First, what's in the amazingly delicious coffee I'm having right now:
Cup of very strong Stumptown coffee, two lumps of extra dark molasses sugar (like brown sugar, but much much richer yet strangely not just like regular gooey molasses), dash of Maker's Mark, dash of cinnamon & cardamom, cream. mmmmmmmmmm desserty goodness

Also finished making the most recent batch of limoncello + pineapple last night. I like it better than the straight lemon limoncello- as T said, if I didn't know there was pineapple in it, I probably wouldn't have noticed it. The pineapple does mellow out the sharper edges of straight lemon though, making it taste much more like lemondrop candies and less like Pledge.  The recipe is the same as for regular limoncello, but adding about 1/3-1/2 of a medium sized ripe pineapple (peeled, chopped) to the initial lemon peel + everclear mix.

That every now and again feeling of foreboding dread came over me late last night and early this morning, the thing that used to be a prelude to a few days of depression. Now I can feel those feelings yet allow my forward momentum to help me get my claws into the day and get on with the business of doing what it is that I do. It's like I can listen, verify whether the blues are coming from an actual problem that needs attention or not & if not,  then turn the volume down and move on. Varies from time to time, of course. But I have waited years to be here and it feels like a real accomplishment.

My studio looks like a tornado ripped through there. Tools & debris all over the place- think I will spend part of the evening cleaning up and setting up the next thing to be finished. It's amazing what big messes such small pieces can cause me to generate.

I only worked two places (TWO!!) in one state (OR) last year. And I only owe the fed $92 this time. That's a heck of a lot better than the $1200 I owed last year. Man, I haven't only had two employers in one year (both W2's and not 1099s) since I don't know when. I am guessing the state will likely owe me about $100, and so all will be close to even. cool.

Time to try to have a maker's mark stamp made again. Ugh. I need one but i do not look forward to searching for a place that makes them that will actually, you know, make me one if I give them money. Or call me back, even.

Ok, time to back away from the glowing rectangle and do some more puttering, cleaning, and reading of some Angela Carter.

I spend a lot of time making Limoncello as a hobby and I have a blog devoted to it (www.limoncelloquest.com). I never considered putting pineapple in the mixture. You say that you add the pineapple to an otherwise normal recipe but what do you consider normal?

I would think the pineapple would add a lot of sweetness so how much water/sugar do you use in your normal recipe? Thanks for the great idea!

I e-mailed you the recipe I used just now- the end result was still very candy-like and sweet, but not sickly-sweet.
